Business Profile & Description
Kevin Clock is the owner, Studio Manager, and Chief Engineer at Colorado Sound. The studio was established in 1977, and Kevin has been there every step of the way. Colorado Sound is the top music recording studio in the Rocky Mountain region, and has hosted national artists such as D'angelo, 'NSYNC, Ginger Baker, eminem, Gladys Knight, Styx, Steve Miller, Method Man, Redman and The Fugees, as well as thousands of local and regional artists and bands. Kevin initially broke into the business by recording local high school bands on a 2-track TEAC 1/4" machine. He went on to get an Electrical Engineering degree, and began interning at many studios...anywhere he could to get more experience. Today, Colorado Sound's prominence in the region is in large part a result of Kevin's talent, skill, and experience. To date, Kevin has hundreds of projects under his belt as engineer and/or producer--everything from bluegrass to jazz and R&B to Reggae, with everything in between. He engineered two Grammy-nominated albums (Hot Rize's Take It Home, and Tim O'Brien's Red On Blonde) and was awarded a Platinum CD for D'angelo's Voodoo CD. Awarded a Grammy (for best vocal performance) and a Gold Record for work on Gladys Knight & The Pips' All Our Love album. He received an Emmy Award for Audio Engineering in the category Outstanding Entertainment Program for High Country Hits, and he won an ITVA (International Television & Video Association) award for Best Original Music Production for VMTV. Many Colorado favorites have returned again and again to work with Kevin at Colorado Sound. Some of these notables include: Hazel Miller, The Samples, Dotsero, Yo Flaco!, Wendy Woo, Taylor Mesple', Hot Rize, Tim & Mollie O'Brien, Arrival, Darrin Curtis Skanson, and many more. Recently, Kevin has had the pleasure of mixing a surround sound recording of The Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Blues Traveler Live at Red Rocks, DSO recordings, The String Cheese Incident's series of New Year's Eve concerts, and a surround sound studio jazz recording for Vancouver-based Songlines Recordings artist, Mark Nodwell. Kevin and the crew of toybox remote recording has also had the pleasure of engineering many live performances for recordings and broadcasts all over the U.S. Among these are Stevie Ray Vaughn live at Red Rocks in Colorado, several MTV and VH1 live broadcasts of artists including YES, Collective Soul, INXS, and Jewel, as well as a "Live to the Internet" worldwide broadcast of Hootie & The Blowfish. He also recorded and mixed a three-year series of Reggae on the Rocks concerts, (Red Rocks), for Boulder-based What Are Records?. Pulse magazine says RORX: The Tenth Annual Reggae on the Rocks "...rates as one of the top-rankin' live reggae recordings to date." Kevin can help you organize your next project, whether it's a soundtrack or a straight-ahead CD music project, starting with booking great musicians all the way through your project's final stages.
